I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited for a Disney announcement than I have been for this one. Continuing our dive into all the announcements that were made by Disney at D23 this past week, today I am excited to share that a Monsters, Inc. Land will be coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World.
During the Disney Experiences Show Case at D23 Josh D’Amaro brought Billy Crystal to the stage and announced the plans to build the Monsters, Inc inspired land. In this land you will be able to stroll the streets with your favorite monsters. The theme of this land will pick up after the events of the Pixar film, where humans are now invited to visit Monsters, Inc.
While sharing the details of the new land. D’Amaro and Crystal indicated that the area will be home to an all-new coaster. One fans have been speculating about for years. You are actually going to zoom through the building via a door. Just like Sulley and Mike did in the 2001 classic Pixar film. Josh D’Amaro shared with fans that “The first time I saw Monsters, Inc., all I wanted to do was ride on one of those doors like Mike and Sulley.” He continued saying “You’ll go into the factory and experience the first suspended coaster ever in a Disney Park. Remember in the movie how those claws grab the doors and hoist them up into the air to take them away? We’re doing that, too. And you’re going along for the ride.” This is clearly a project Josh is passionate about, along with countless fans who have been begging for this attraction for decades. While a location within Hollywood Studios has not been announced by Disney, they have indicated that construction is slated to begin in 2025.
